Installation Conditions and Precautions for Mechanical Water Meters

Kaifeng Shengda Water Meter Co., Ltd. kindly remind you that, when installing a mechanical water meter, several conditions and precautions must be observed to ensure accurate measurement and long-term functionality.

1. Location: The water meter should be installed in a clean, dry, and accessible area, protected from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and potential physical damage. If the meter is installed in the well or underground wet place, its better to install a meter box to protect it. It should be placed in a location where it is easy to read and maintain.

2. Orientation: Most mechanical water meters must be installed horizontally with the dial facing upward. Please ensure the flow direction follows the arrow marked on the meter body to prevent damage and ensure accurate readings. If the meter is vertical installation type, please ensure the pipe is vertical, not tilted. Make sure the flow direction is from down up.

3. Piping: Use straight piping sections before and after the meter to minimize turbulence. A minimum of 10 pipe diameters of straight pipe upstream and 5 diameters downstream is recommended. Avoid installing the meter near bends, valves, or pumps that could cause irregular flow.

4. Debris Protection: Please install a strainer or filter upstream of the meter to prevent debris from entering and damaging the internal components.

5. Pressure and Flow Rate: Ensure the water pressure and flow rate are within the meter's specified operating range. Excessive pressure or flow can damage the meter.

6. Leakage Checks: After installation, check for leaks in the connections and ensure the meter is functioning correctly. Regularly inspect and maintain the meter to ensure its accuracy and longevity.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the proper installation and operation of a mechanical water meter, providing reliable and accurate water usage measurements.
