I believe everyone can understand that when the water inside the pipeline is emptied, the air "takes advantage of the void"; When the water supply is restored, the water flow presses the air inside the pipeline towards the blind ends of the indoor pipeline, forming "compressed air" until the air pressure and water pressure balance.

There is an interface between air and water, where the pressure difference on both sides of the interface is zero; When the water pressure changes, a certain pressure difference is formed on both sides of the interface, and the gas water balance is disrupted. To compensate for this pressure difference and achieve a new balance, it is necessary to change the air pressure accordingly, causing the air volume to expand or contract, thereby promoting the flow of tap water in the "connecting device" of the pipeline, resulting in the phenomenon of "water meter idling".

Due to reasons such as air mixing under pressure and changes in water temperature in the pipeline, there is air inside the water pipe, which produces a pulsating effect that causes the water meter installed in certain positions to slowly move words even when it is not running water, and the numbers often accumulate and increase.

Generally, the main reason for the rotation of the water meter is due to the unstable water pressure located in the upper floors. So there is a situation where the water meter rotates in both positive and negative directions, resulting in inaccurate readings. For high-level users like this, there is a secondary pressurized water supply. When someone uses water, the pipeline pressure drops and the water meter will reverse. When the water is turned off instantly, the water pressure in the pipeline rises and the water meter will turn forward.

When using water, the valve opens slowly, so the decrease in pipeline water pressure is slow and the inertia generated is small, resulting in a slow reversal of the water meter's amplitude and speed.

But when the water is stopped, the valve is instantly closed, so the water pressure in the pipeline rises quickly and the inertia generated is also large, resulting in a faster forward rotation speed of the water meter, which leads to the phenomenon of water meter rotation.

The fundamental solution to idle water meters is to release the accumulated gas in the pipeline. But specific cases need to be analyzed in detail, and the solution steps are generally as follows:

Is it uniform

If the watch needle rotates at a constant speed, it is mostly due to internal leakage at the back of the watch or air leakage at the packing of individual valves. Once eliminated, it can be resolved.

If the rotation is uneven and the water meter still runs idle after eliminating internal leakage, it is necessary to deflate all water points of the user, especially pay attention to checking the plug of the pipeline that has not been used for a long time, and see if there is a heater directly connected to the pipeline (such as soil heater, water heater, solar energy, etc.).
